The layout of a surgery decides how well it works for the next ten years. We plan the space around your equipment, your services and the way your team actually works — before anything is ordered or a wall goes up.
What’s involved
We visit the site, measure up, and look at what’s already there — services, drainage, power, extraction, and how the space connects to the rest of the practice. From that we produce a layout and equipment specification you can build and cost from.
What you get
- A surgery layout drawn around your workflow, not a standard template
- Equipment specification with costs agreed before ordering
- Services, power and drainage requirements set out for your builder
- Architectural and planning drawings through BF Planning & Design
- Coordination with your architect, contractor and interior designer
- Installation and commissioning by our own engineers
Drawings and planning
Where a project needs architectural and planning drawings, we work alongside BF Planning & Design, a Galway-based consultancy led by civil engineer Brian Farragher.
BF Planning & Design look after the drawings and planning documentation. HDMS handles the surgery layout, equipment specification, supply, installation and commissioning. Both sides work from the same plan from the outset, so the equipment and services requirements are designed in rather than worked around later.
Brian qualified as a Civil Engineer at Heriot-Watt University and is a registered BER Assessor with SEAI, with over 20 years of construction experience in Ireland and Australia.
New builds and renovations
Whether you’re fitting out a new premises, adding a surgery, or replacing equipment in a room that stays in use, the planning work is the same — get the decisions made early so installation is straightforward and there are no surprises on site.
Multi-surgery clinics
We’ve delivered equipment solutions for multi-surgery clinics where several rooms need to work to the same standard and share the same services. Complex installations need the plan agreed before the first delivery arrives.
